THE CENTRAL LABORATORY OF APPLIED PHYSICS (CLAP) WITH PILOT PRODUCTION

THE CENTRAL LABORATORY OF APPLIED PHYSICS (CLAP) – PLOVDIV is an independent academic specialized unit, carrying out research & development work with the following priorities: Equipment design, transfer of technologies and production technologies in the field of nanosized, nanostructured and nanocomposited layers and superhard coatings; Research and industrial application of Ohmic contacts, assembly and packaging of electronic components, including MEMS and NEMS; Research and industrial application of energy effective LEDs lighting, including UV light emitting diodes.

All basic methods such as liquid phase and molecular beam epitaxy of thin semiconductor films, thermal, e-beam and  magnetron deposition of thin metal films, Ohmic and Schottky contacts, well as photolithography, assembly and packaging of semiconductor devices.

A wide range of sensors: photo-, magneto-, thermo-, radiation sensitive and capacitance sensors, as well as sensor units are produced. Microwave sensors and photoprobes, and a range of light emitting diodes are developed. Over 2 million power infrared light emitting diodes for remote control have been sold in Russia, Ukraine and Turkey.

High power, high frequency, high temperature SiC MESFETs; high power, high temperature SiC p-n diodes and high temperature, high frequency, high voltage SiC p-i-n diodes have been developed.

The branch of thermoelectric Peltier elements based cooling-heating devices is developing successfully.

Industrial PVD equipment and technology for electric arc deposition of hard coatings are designed and realized. Industrial equipment and technology for electrodischarge polishing are realized. The equipment and technology for electric arc deposition and electrodischarge polishing, as well as the polishing of details and the coatings deposition can be ordered and offered for sale.

Technology for nanostructured superhard coatings and nanocomposites on a new PVD equipment “Platit π80+ is developed. A variety of coatings can be ordered. Multifunctional equipment „Compact Platform CPXMHT/NHT” and methods for measurements of micro- and nanohardness, adhesion, Youngs modulus and coefficient of friction of hard and superhard materials and coatings are mastered of.

High efficiency energy saving light emitting diodes (LEDs) for lighting devices are designed. Water purification unit by means of UV LEDs was developed based on a patent entitled Ultraviolet LED water purifier BG U1 1109/2008.
